DELIVERY / FEASIBILITY + ENGINEERING

Turn a power problem into an engineering basis.

Feasibility is where demand, reliability, technology, fuel, network constraints and economics are reconciled before capital is committed.

01

Build a traceable basis

Every major sizing and commercial assumption should connect back to observed demand, stated operating requirements or an explicit design assumption that can be tested later.

02

Compare architectures, not isolated products

Options should be assessed as complete operating systems: firm generation, renewable contribution, storage, network interfaces, fuel, maintenance and the route to future expansion.

03

Define the next decision

A useful feasibility study ends with a clear development route: information still required, design work to close, approvals, commercial decisions, procurement strategy and the conditions for investment.

ENGINEERING BASIS / PUBLIC NOTE

Built from operating questions, not equipment catalogues.

This page explains the engineering logic used to frame an early power decision. Final sizing, commercial terms and detailed design depend on verified project data, site conditions and formal engineering work.

FIRST DECISION BASIS

Inputs that materially change the answer.

These are the early inputs Mergen would normally test before treating a configuration as a credible project basis.

PROJECT QUESTIONS

Questions owners and project teams ask.

What makes a power feasibility study useful?

It should create a traceable basis, compare complete operating architectures, test the main technical and commercial sensitivities, identify unresolved uncertainties and end with a clear next decision.

Should feasibility use equipment quotations as the main design basis?

Supplier data can inform the work, but feasibility should not become a comparison of quotations. The design basis should come from the load, reliability requirement, site, fuel or grid conditions, network interfaces and operating economics.

What should remain explicit at the end of feasibility?

Open data gaps, design assumptions, surveys, approvals, commercial conditions, long-lead items, interfaces and the conditions required before capital commitment should all remain visible.

START WITH THE LOAD

Bring the operating problem.

Send the State or FCT, demand, operating hours, current supply and reliability requirement. Mergen can use that as the first engineering basis.
